Skilled Labor Fund hero image

HOW WE WORK

Nationwide, there are hundreds of thousands of unfilled skilled trades jobs in residential construction. The nation’s homebuilders and contractors need skilled laborers and professionals to meet housing demand. The National Housing Endowment is committed to the ever-changing needs of the housing industry.

We have positioned ourselves to respond to this need by not only focusing on graduating university-trained managers, but also on filling the gap in the skilled labor workforce. We have directly addressed the nation’s labor shortage by establishing and promoting grant opportunities within the Skilled Labor Fund.

The Skilled Labor Fund is part of the National Housing Endowment, a 501(c)(3) Foundation. Affiliation with the National Housing Endowment allows 98.5% of all funds raised to be spent on the mission. The operating committee makes decisions on how and where the collected funds will be spent. Donors’ input is welcomed and expected. The Fund is set up as a restrictive fund, meaning that the funds do not need to be endowed and can be distributed as needed.

Preference is given to programs that operate in partnership with local industry associations in order to promote industry engagement in training and in placement.
